Technics SL-23 Cart reccomendations ADC K8 cart on hand.

Hello, I am a noob when it comes to vinyl. I have cleaned up the pots with deoxit and replaced the oil/grease on the spindle. The cart and headshell that came with it is from an ION USB turntable. GT something. After balancing the tone arm and using a printed protractor to confirm its alignment, I get harsh treble off records I cleaned with Titebond II. it did not sound this way at first. Anyway, I have a blue ADC K8 that I pulled from a non-working BSR 710 that measures at 380 on the right and 360ish on the left. Is this cart worth using with the SL-23? If so, is there a good replacement stylus that would sound great? Or would be better to pick up something new? I suppose I'd like to spend no more than US $80. less would be better TBH.

the TT is hooked up to a Denon AVR-2807-Infinity RS3000. I can use my HK230a as a preamp in the future, it is currently in a small dining room setup. (infinity RS11 bookshelfs).

Worth it? Certainly. I'm a fan of the K8 stylus (newer ones are dark gray, not blue) because it sounds good and costs next to nothing, especially when bought from eBay seller rivertone.stylus (currently $10 shipped; sometimes on sale for $6). Alternatives to fit the K bodies are few, but include any of the K series styli:

The one that I have currently is the Numark Groove Tool. Is the ADC an upgrade? it seems to be.

I have a Sanyo MG09/Groove Tool and the treble is exaggerated and harsh. I would definitely try a new stylus for the ADC. Like you, I pulled one from a junker BSR changer. I picked up a cheap NOS K8 conical stylus on ebay, but I haven't got around to trying it yet. It can't be as bad as the GT, that's for sure.

Thank you all. Yeah the treble is exaggerated with the GT. I think I'll go with the ADC. Great price
