Biggest issue with them is usually speed controls going wonky. Your table goes weird, cleaning those pots will usually bring it back to life. They're also pretty particular about replacement belts, so go for the closest match to original dimensions (including thickness).
PS - not to pOOp on a good looking job, but you've added a LOT of capacitance to the table's inputs. Be interesting to do a before/after comparison. I've replaced a few cables on tables, but I always use minimum length component type cables (lowest capacitance commonly available), soldered direct. Only exception might be if I'm using an external stage - still important to keep the cabling between the table and stage as short as possible while matching the OEM capacitance, but not so much on cables running between the stage and pre-amp.
Agreed and they can be picked up fairly cheap. I got this one off eBay for less than $100 including shipping because it hadn’t been tested by the seller.
Looks nice and you did a good job on that. I am however of the belief that the more places you have connections the more problems and resistance you add to the circuit. As above you may have changed the capacitance but depending on what cartridge you have it may make no difference. Many tables do come with connectors on the back but I suspect they do that to cut cost and then you need to buy another cable which they up sell.
I think you’re right. Next time I’d skip the connector and go direct. Live and learn I guess. But it looks cool!
