Technics Sl-230 Motor

Hi everyone,

I have a technics SL-230. It was not keeping speed very well so i cleaned the fine-tune speed knobs and replaced the belt, as it was in need anyway. Played really well and held speed flawlessly for a few weeks. Then, sometimes when starting it the turntable would need a nudge to get going. I though it was the new belt breaking in. Now the motor wont turn at all, even with the belt off. Any suggestions? I would search but the function is down due to server change.

Have you tried to get some oil in the motor? They can tend to seize up after 30 or 40 years without it!

I will give that a shot! Any particular type?

This worked! Just put a single drop of 3-in-1 oil on the spindle and hand turned it, i could feel it get smoother.
