Has anyone run into this problem before? The positive and negatives on the phono cables are shorted out. Someone spliced a short RCA cord onto the cables about 5 inches from the back. I didn't like the tape job and needed a longer cable anyway so I spliced a new set onto the unit and lo and behold the negative and positives on each individual cable are shorted together. So I undid one, and that channel is still shorted out so it wasn't anything I did. The only thing between the cable as it goes into the board plug and the plug to the tonearm wires is the muting switch. I don't see how that could short both channels though. The channels are separate, it's just that the neg an pos are shorted together on both. This is with the plug to the tonearm unplugged, so I know it's not in the tonearm. Anyone had a similar issue?
