Technics SL-D2 + AT LS500

A Technics SL-D2 in good shape (fully working), but missing its dust cover, is listed locally. Wouldn't typically be interested (even though I'm in the market for my first turntable, and an SL-D2 is one of the turntables I'm looking at) except that it includes an Audio Technica LS500 cartridge.

Listed for $100.

Worth considering for the cartridge alone? Or should I pass since it's missing the dust cover?

That's a good table, and they don't get much cheaper in my neck of the woods. A cheap, plastic, belt drive unit can be had for as little as $60, but a model like this would start at $80-$100 all day long.

Thanks. Yeah, I wasn't concerned about sound, just wondering if the dust protection is important enough that the missing cover should dissuade me from purchasing it.

The missing "original" dust cover can become a major concern. :scratch2:
