Technics SL D2 or UTurn Orbit?

Friend of mine on a budget wanted me to recommend a TT. I recommended the U-Turn. Recently saw a Technics SL-D2 on Craigslist for $110. If the SL-D2 is in good functioning performance in person, which do you all think would be the better table?

The SL-D2 is a known workhorse of a machine, so head to head, I would definitely say it's better( I have owned both). But...the chances of the Technics needing NOTHING done to it to get it up to snuff are pretty small. You will probably at least need a new stylus and a can of Deoxit. No big deal really, but if your friend has limited experience with turntables even that may be too much.
