Technics sl-D500 speed issue

Picked up a nice technics sl-d500 this weekend for 20.00. has the stacker spindle and a perfect cover.As I play with it i cant get the strobe to hold consistently and each record it seems to be a different speed.Any help would on this issue would be great thanks
