Technics SL-L2 Linear Intermittent issue

marcthisdate

Where’s the confounded bridge?
I just picked up a Technics linear tracking L2, in fairly good cosmetic condition. It has an annoying problem and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. From time to time, and mostly first thing in the morning, when I hit play it will drop the needle and then proceed to drag the stylus across the record. Usually if I exercise the tonearm, aka via the controls, moving the tonearm back and fourth, it will clear up after a few tries. This can happen mid record or at the lead in track.

Once it goes away, it will not come back for the rest of the day. This has happened since day one. I have changed the belt, cartridge and cleaned off the grease on the rail/gears and relubed with teflon spray. is there an adjustment that I need to look at or another area I need to clean and re-grease that I might have missed? Thanks in advance....
