bumping thread for help on value

looking for a decent starter table, one of these is available to me locally- anyone know what a fair value is? ebay has one with a starting bid of 24.99 and no bids and another buy it now at 195.00, so there is not a lot of information for me to work with. any input appreciated.

wow that vancouver ad is a good deal- unfortunately the local table is over double that for the table only. i am going to look around for other craigslist listings. i had not thought of checking other cities. thank you.

I have a Techniques SL-Q2. I have had it for a couple years after I got it in a multi gear trade. It is surprisingly good. Anyone know where I can get a new cover for it? That is the only fault with it.

Does anyone know if it damages the turntable (SL-Q3) if I start it manually? I just prefer to do it this way. Or sometimes if I'm in the mood to listen to specific tracks I'll use the lever and manually move the arm. I just don't want to destroy the mechanics of the turntable...

Probably not.

To be safe, follow the instructions on how to use the Technics SL-Q3 manually as stated in the owner's manual.

Try damping the unit by packing 5-6 lbs of non hardening clay under the platform, take care not to interfere with the tonearm return mechanism or restrict air flow to the motor. This made quite a difference in my old SL-Q2!

I’m sure I only used about five pounds of clay, but the improvement was obvious. Good luck!

That's an older Shure cartridge/logo.
I doubt that there was a 'factory installed' cartridge per se.

Yup! looks like an old M75 series with a yellow stylus, the VERY scarce N75ED 0.2 X 0.7 Shure nude elliptical tip. This was not "factory installed". You are correct. I think mine actually cam with a Technics cartridge. I can not remember the model number. EPC- something, I think. I still have mine. I was very lucky to find a new genuine shure replacement. My SL-Q2 still runs like a top everyday for at least the last 30 years. I would never sell this old gem. Sounds great through my Darlington Labs MM-6.
