Technics Sl-Q202... Can anyone please help me?

I got this turntable for a gift from a buddy of mine. Its in good shape and had been in storage for 20+ years. He bought it new. It has a Audio-Technica 3003 needle...Any opinions about this?? It's in great shape and I played it for a couple hours and sounded pretty good. Now all of a sudden it randomly Auto returns it will just play for 5 seconds and auto return.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated does anybody have any idea what this might be? I work on speakers and other electronics but just getting into turntables. Please let me know if anyone can help me out. I could get on with my day:) Thanks.

Probably hardened grease. Take off the bottom cover and clean up as much of the old grease that you can and apply a fresh coating of new grease. The service manual is available at vinylengine.com. You'll have to register to download it.
