Technics SL-Q3 Hinge Set

I am in need of replacing the hinges on my Technics SL-Q3 turntable.

I looked on eBay and the closest hinge found was for the SL-Q2. The listing claimed these hinges would fit many other models.
However, upon inquiry, the seller was not certain if they would be comparable.

To avoid any hassle of possibly needing to return the wrong hinge set, I wished to ask the members of this forum if the hinge set listed for the SL-Q2 would work with the SL-Q3?

Many thanks in advance!

Technics: SL-Q2 & SL-Q3

Hi -

I'm the (very) happy original owner of a Technics: SL-Q2 (paired with a Shure V15, III) since 1980. The only difference between the two models is that the Q3 is Fully-Automatic, while the the Q2 is Semi-Automatic. In the original Technics Catalogue from 1980; they even list them on the exact same line....sharing Drive Systems and other specs, including the measurements: 16-59/64 x 5-7/64 x 14-49/64"

Based on all of that - you should be "golden."

Thank you!
Excellent news!

I see a lot of hinge set for the SL-Q2, but none for the SL-Q3.
I thought they were extremely similar, but am thrilled to know I have a piece of mind in ordering the set supplied with the SL-Q2.

Thank you again!

As said above, the two tables are exactly the same, except for the degree of automation. many other tables, including the B series, from the same year have the same hinges.

Thanks for the input!
Would the same be said for the SL-D2 hinge set?
Would those work as well?
They look to be extremely similar based on my research on vintagetechnics.co.uk.

Thanks again for all the help in the matter!

Hi -

The only Technics table I've owned is the Q-2, but based on that infamous 1980 Technics Catalogue, the dimensions are exactly the same. Not surprising, since they're all Direct Drive models.

I have a D2 and a 5200, They are all the same.

Okay.
Thanks.
So I can go ahead and save $10 by ordering the SL-D2 hinge set over the SL-Q2 hinge set for my SL-Q3?
All 3 TTs were made between the years 79-80.

Thanks a lot guys.
This is much appreciated.

Yes, I checked my D2 and Q2. I found the Q2 hinges on eBay for $24.95, but couldn't find the D2 ones.

Here they are:

Would you save $5-$10 and order the SL-D2 set, or pay the $25 plus $5 shipping on the SL-Q2s?
The seller with the D2 set has a best offer option (asking $19.99), perhaps $16+$4 to ship.

The Q2s seem to be in better condition?

Thanks a lot Azimuth.
Your help has been appreciated.

I don't think it matters. The difference is only $5.00 if you Buy it Now.

I was just trying to gauge an opinion as the hinges to me seem slightly different and I just wished to make sure.
I believe they are of different condition.
That's all.
