Hi, I've recently acquired two SL1210 Mk2 turntables, so I'm looking to fix my second hand bought SL1510 MK1 to sell it on.
Unfortunately the former owner did a bit of a botched repair on the three way rotary switch that lets you select between off,33 1/3 RPM and 45 RPM
For the 45 RPM position, he bypassed the rotary switch and added a second pressure switch instead. (the brown thing with the red button and the wires sticking out) Now this would've been fine if not for that switch being ultra sensitive to changes in pressure, which causes the speed to fluctuate constantly. (rocking the switch back and forth in the 45RPM position makes the speed go up and down)
I was thinking of soldering the wires back on the rotary switch, but taking it apart, I found that something seemed to be missing (which was probably the reason why the former owner added the extra switch in the first place)
This wafer with the six holes sits between the two wafers that have the contact plates on them but there is nothing to connect the contacts!
I came across another picture of this same switch on the internet (which of course I am now unable to find again) where they had it dismantled and there seemed to be a small metal part sitting in one of the holes, acting as a contact between the contact plates on the other two wafers.
I really want to get this turntable in working condition again so I can sell it on but I have no idea how to fix this switch.
Is there anyone with experience in repairing these switches who can help? Or should I just replace the switch with a modern one? Anything I should be looking out for when choosing a replacement?
