Technics SL1700 platter help!

Hey guys,

I just picked up an SL1700 for 20.00! :thmbsp:and am wondering if anyone of you may know if I can switch the platter from an SL1200 Mk2? I've had an SL1700mk2 in the past and switched its platter from a mk1! But I'm just not sure in regards the the 1200? Because the platter on the one I have now has quite a bit of wobble to it and I know it's the platter because I put another tester platter on it and it worked flawless.... Your help on this question is very much appreciated! :D

No it won't work the strobe ring is different and i also believe the way the magnet is attached on the bottom is different as well. If you want do a search over at Vinylengine.com as a guy with your same 1700 discovered with his what your aski8ng about.Search in the technics forum.
Now if yours is a 170MKII then Yes the platters are interchangeable.

You may want to try and tighten the three screws on top of the motor as that can cause a wobble as well. Your saying you were able to put the platter from a 1700 on to a 1700MKII table?
