Technics SL1700 Won't Spin?!?

Help! I had a simple repair: switch out the RCA's and ground cables on a Technics SL1700. No sweat. Cable swap was simple and quick. I only removed the feet and made sure I didn't open the bottom up more than the inch I needed to work. Button up, power on------nada. All of the levers seem to be in the right places (as far as I can tell). Everything moves smooth, no hardened gunk. Switch seems fine. Everything seems totally fine so what gives?!

And what's this I see about magnetized platter? Can removing the platter magically demagnetize the coils around the motor?

Thanks!!!!

Did a connection come loose when you opened the case? There are a number of plugs inside you should be able to see if you take off the metal cover under the platter.
