Went to a garage sale on Friday to check out some music. The guy had great stuff. I bought 30 records at .50 per and could have, probably should have, bought a lot more. Saw a grubby linear turntable for $10, figured what the hell. The needle was bent but I knew I had a spare pmount someplace. This thing is actually pretty nice once it's cleaned up although the dust cover is pretty seriously scratched. Has optics so you can pick the track. It works too although sets down a tad early when using the auto track selection. Regular automatic operation is fine. Have to look into that. Heavier than you would think for it's size. The thing is barely bigger than an LP.

I remember selling against these back in the day. We called them Close 'n Play after the Kenner toy 45 player because of the arm being attached to the lid. It's not bad, plays good. Hates warped records though and changing the cartridge is a pita for a pmount, have to unhook the optics to get at the pmount screw. Any one else have any experience with these?

I already changed it. Standard P-mount. Just had to remove the optics first. Had a Technics branded one in it that I can't tell who made it. After taking it out, it's rather difficult to change the stylus. Swapped the cartridge out with a no name I had on hand. Think it's made by AT. It's playing fine.

I was asking if anyone has experience with this turntable, not changing the cartridge. Probably should have worded it better.
