So I’m obsessed with Vintage Technics Speakers. I have 2 pairs of SB-L70, 1 Pair of SB-L50, 1 Pair of SB-K43 and 1 pair of SB-L75 and looking to acquire more of them. I guess they weren’t the best in the market when they were produced back in the 80s but I’ve been around them playing since my childhood and I’ve got to love the sound they produce. Currently I have all these hooked up to a Technics SE-A1000 and a Harmon Kardon unit and the sound isn’t bad at all.
My question is this. Technics made
SB-L30 which is equivalent to SB-K20. (Used the same speakers. Part #s match)
SB-L70 which is equivalent to SB-K40 and SB-K43 ( Used the same speakers. Part #s match)
And I think SB-L50 which is equivalent to SB-K22.
Only difference is an overload button located in the front. But the SB-K** series is not listed on the vintage Technics site. Neither is it listed anywhere else I could find online. Anyone know why this is?
Now I was thinking that the SB-K** series was produced to sell with a specific Amp or a receiver but I was talking to an owner who said he purchased them as individuals new from the store in the early 80s.
Anyone here who owns these maybe has more info on them?

Thanks for the reply. Yes I did look there also. But the SB-K** series exists a lot here in the US. There are few people that still have those for sale on Craigslist.

Thanks for your reply. The tweeters do produce very crisp higher frequencies. Bass is not all that but since I have 10 of them hooked up together, they sound awsome.

I'm puzzled as to why they would make a different series with the same speakers which isn't listed anywhere.

Crossover has a slight different configuration with an added overload button. Not sure why this is but it works.

ha ha.. nope.

4 boxes connected to my Technics SE-A1000 (Speaker A & B outputs left and right channels)
4 boxes connected to my Harmon Kardon unit ( Same configuration as my Technics unit)
2 boxes connected to my Technics SA-424 receiver.

All 3 units fed by a Yamaha mixer. I know it's quite the confusing set up. No one messes with it cuz of this :)
 
Sounds like he's experimenting with distributed bass theory.

Glad you're having fun. Those look exactly like what I thought a speaker should be when I was younger. Have fun. Weird that you can't find any info though.
