I often think that we who think of ourselves as audiofile sike ourselves for a 'great audio difference' whenever we replace a power capacitor or power cord.......and in this case an audio op amp, but here I go, the difference was......oh well, you fill in the space for me (he he)

Oh, by the way, the replacement OpAmp was a National LME49860 (thanx to EW for turning me onto this super OpAmp)

Looks like a nice install AK 47! A quick question for you. I have a vintage Soundesign receiver I was thinking about recapping and having gold plated RCA jacks installed to further realize the full potential from my compact discs. Is there possibly any way of boosting the output at all on this wonderful little receiver from the 1970s? I get about 150 watts before it begins to distort, but the bass is so powerful and accurate! I already installed a heavier power cord and upgraded my speaker cables with some 22 gauge cable I found at home depot. I'm currently running 6 sets of speakers at one time right now, and the receiver which has a built in turntable, gets really hot, so I leave the turntable dust cover open and run a fan to allow the heat to escape. Also, if I were to install an upgraded op amp in the tuner section of my soundesign, would it make a big difference?

Thanx much for the comments. I think I'd pass on the op amp unless you really feel positive on tackling it (not for a beginner), but if you pic the right unit it certaily woudn't hurt it. I think you've done just about all that any dedicated audiofile could expect on the pumping little powerhouse. If you cut down on the speakers it might actually do and sound better. Just guessing, Chuck
