Technics SU-8600 speaker protection relay

I am replacing the speaker protection relay on my Technics SU-8600 and ran into this jumper on pins 14 and 12. It doesn't appear in the schematic. Should I assume it was a fix of some sort at one time and omit it or replace the relay and keep the jumper.

I'm not great at reading schematics and determining how the circuit works. What would this jumper do as installed?20231121_081505.jpgFB_IMG_1700595076937.jpg

Looks like someone jumpered a bad contact on the relay. When the relay is powered, it shorts pins 12 and 8 which is where your jumper appears to be.

Removed the jumper and replace the relay. The jumper will put one of the channels at risk if the output transistors blow.

Hi!

The relay on my 8600 is faulty as well so I also want to replace it. I removed the small bottom plate and found that the soldering points of the relay were quite hard to reach as half of them were still covered by the rest of the bottom plate. Is there any way to access them more easily? On your pictures they look far more exposed than in mine…thanks for your help in advance!

Best, Henrik
