Technics su-v8 opinions plz

Can anyone tell me if the technics su-v8 is an amazing amp or just a talked up alright piece of technics gear.
Im getting one restored currently and Im curious to what you guys think of it sound quality wise since Ive never heard it run yet as the transistors are fried.

IMHO,it's a really nice soundin' amp with a truly great phono stage. Although,not quite up there with the likes of a Pioneer SA-9900,SA-9800,Sansui AU-919,AU-X1,or Kenwood KA-907,Model 600.
It tends to be slightly harsher/brighter soundin' than all of the above,but then it was a cheaper model.

Thats what I was guessing a nice sounding but not the best. It was close to TOTL after all. Do the output transistors fry alot in these, is it a reliable amp??? Just wondering because it has been repaired before by the previous owner(who took it to a repair shop).
