Telefunken S81 Stereo Tube amplifier Capacitors

Hi, I got this pretty S81 in excellent condition and was planing to replace the filter cap. I bought and received this cap (500V 50uf + 50uf 85C New Can Eelectrolytic Capacitor for tube amp) and it mesear 54uf and 1.4ohm ESR. Out of curiosity, I checked the original (in circuit) and it measures 55uf and 0.9ohm ESR. Is it necessary to change it. Also need advise on choosing type of capacitor to replace the other capacitors in circuit (please see the pictures 0.033uf which measures 0.0053uf in circuit). I will be adding more pictures of the other capacitors soon. Thanks in advance for advice and suggestions.

I have been recapping a Telefunken console too. Those paper Ero caps all need to be replaced. I used orange drops which made for good replacements. Every Ero cap I removed tested out of spec.
I recommend you check the bridge rectifier as well on these.
 
Its the leakage at working voltage thats of more concern, especially with the paper caps. I use basic yellow film caps for basically everything. They have the same sort of lead arrangement as the originals, but honestly any sort of film cap you can buy now will work fine. Avoid the really fancy expensive ones just because they're likely to be huge and it will give you trouble fitting them anywhere.

The ones that are clear plastic cases with silvery looking stuff inside are likely polystyrene. Those are usually electrically fine as long as you keep heat away from them. THey shift value and are easily killed if you bump them with the iron.

HV leakage is a similar thing on the filter cap, but it might be fine for now. It also might die tomorrow or last another 10 years. I've got some things with original filters from the 60s waiting for me to stop being lazy and deal with it, I've had others from that period that were bad when I got them, and others that failed with no warning. The German radio I ran on my desk at work for several years turned on one morning with a nasty hum. I had honestly forgotten that I'd never done the filters in it, but it worked reliably for probably 4 years of daily use before it bailed out.

Thanks, excellent suggestion. I probably will come with specific questions in near future, just trying to understand the recapping concept and gathering the components.

I also got a Telefunken Musiktruhe Salzburg III U (3U), did not open it yet but FM/AM is working. However, I did not tried the record player yet so don't know inputs are working or not.

They'll work. I usually use the yellow axial caps just because I find they fit a little better but I have used the "chicklet" caps without issues before.
 
Illinois MPW series are the yellow axials that I typically use. ETR also makes one that seems to work fine.
