Telefunkin score?!

elusive

I had a few moments away from my house remodel to work on some gear.
More specifically, to examine some stuff I bought and make sure I had the parts.

So, I open up the Bogen AP-35. All of the pre tubes have the ugly shields on them. I pull the ones off of the 12AX7's...

...two Telefunkin "Made in West Germany" tubes!

I do not have any gear rebuilt yet that uses these... so I'll have to wait and see what they sound like.

It looks like the lettering will come off if I even look at them to long. Am I safe to clean them up a bit?

Don't wipe where there's lettering. Typically, just a wipe with a water dampened tissue around the top where the dust drops down while the tube shield is in place is the best choice. Then the heat will dissipate normally off the top of the tube where the shield has left it open.
Leave the rest alone and you can't go wrong.
