Telex 8 Track Changer

I found a very rare Telex 8 track changer 48H, 48D at a local flea market for $5.. It would not power up at first, and it keeps blowing fuses now even though the rectifier and caps have been replaced.. Also it won't change tracks, as there seem to be an electrical issue, that part of the circuit does nothing.. My friend is getting fed up with trying to fix it seeing how we have no service manual for it.. If anyone has a copy or knows where to obtain one, please let me know..

Thanks.. Adam

This is a machine worth repairing. The 8 track buffs value this changer highly and it's a rare and desirable model for sound and for features.

It's the machine that has a built in amp.. Also has aux outputs to hook to a stereo system.. It's at my friends house so that model number came from research on the internet.. Seeing how I don't have it in front of me.. The head is also pretty corroded from storing in a damp environment for a long time, like a shed.. I'm hoping it will be able to be buffed out without wearing down the head.. We're trying to locate those two round belts for it seeing how they are missing..

Adam, there are several sites that might be able to help...have you sourced these?

8-Track Heaven comes to mind as one. Not sure if it's still operational? What circa is this device?

I deleted the original post.. I accidentally pasted some of this forum html and I couldn't edit it out after posting.. I then reposted yesterday, and the new one didn't get posted, and today, still I don't see it.. I'm afraid the moderator doesn't realize I deleted the original and is not approving the new posts..

You might be right. Send it again, I'll make sure it gets posted. Just don't delete anything.

Happy trails,
Larry B.
