I've just received permission to open a catalog at the Live Music Archive, in regard to recordings of performances by the TVS-Chorus.
I'm hoping to get a larger agreement with the Temecula Valley Symphony orchestra for their performances. For now,.. this is the announcement thread for live recordings of performances by this chorale ensemble.
At such a time, it will become the announcement thread for the TVS as well.

http://www.temeculavalleysymphony.org
http://temeculavalleysymphony.org/chorus/
http://temeculavalleysymphony.org/concerts-events/

This is just to announce this new LMA catalog.
Next post,... the music.

THE FILES PRESENTED ARE ALL AUTHORIZED BY THE CHORUS.
Safe, legal, authorized downloads - streaming - mp3, etc.

And,... I sort of did a slop together cut and paste, screen shot mashup of a couple of images.

With due apologies to real photographers,...
This is the aural perspective of this recording, *literally, from my first row center seat.
Screen Shot 2017-12-31 at 10.44.24 AM.jpg

* HRTF is a hybrid form of binaural. It carries well to speakers, but, still maintains all of the binaural information. Great on headphones; translates very well to speakers.
I was recording in this fashion from where this picture was taken. Consequently,... that picture is the intended aural image.

Four-Mic Matrix post-edit mix notes:
via Reaper at 1:1 with -4dB output
Edits to finished matrix masters only:
A slight compression pass overall, to reduce percussion blasts by 3_to_4dBfs. Then a normalizing pass to -1dBfs peaks.
This was done to allow for everything else to be brought up in its presence.
The raw masters for the matrix were not edited.

Long preambles are tracked at end of previous song tracks; some quite long to get choir in place/stage changes.
New songs/movements start at track points, to skip preambles.

From internet announcement:
TEMECULA VALLEY SYMPHONY & CHORUS combine forces on the 2017-2018 Season Opening Concert
AGNUS DEI (Adagio for Strings) – Samuel Barber
THE JOURNEY WITHIN and DARKNESS APPROACHING – Peter Boyer (Cinematic Cues written for motion pictures)
GLORIA (Movements I & IV) – Antonio Vivaldi

PASSION & ADVENTURE come to life with these two dramatic works:

@botrytis
You are most welcome, and thank you.
You're entering the learning curve zone with this one. This is my first time in this hall, and, in front of this ensemble.

Me too! I live in LA but my sister and her family live in that area and I visit often. I never even imagined dusty little Temucula could be a cultural oasis in an actual desert.

Thanks MFrench, and I look forward to their orchestral performances.

Allow me to say,... I have fallen in love with how this recording came out sounding (except for maybe the hvac system sound; a typical SoCal feature)

A very sincere thanks to the TVS orgnaization for their acceptance of these recordings on the Live Music Archive. Much gratitude.
This fileset has been edited down to the musical content only, to remove stage changes between songs, preambles, etc.
This is a music only edit, m.o.edit.

Mike, you have supplied us with so much amazing music, all of your threads should be in a sticky (I know not necessarily easy to to at this time).

Or a single thread with all of your other recording posts included as links to the individual threads.

Thanks once again!

@I LIKE MUSIC
Thank you!
That might be easier, or, at least in a broader sense, more searchable?. Yours is the second suggestion of doing that, just this morning. That could become a crazy amount of weirdness there.

There is another TVS concert this coming sunday afternoon, Feb. 17, at 2pm, at Temecula Valley High School

from a reminder that I got about the event,..
We will be at Golden Bears Theater, Temecula Valley High School.
Concert starts at 2 pm.
Rehearsal begins at 11:30 am.

I'll be there, and will be running a new pair of mics that I've built. This will be the first test in front of large scale acoustic music; orchestra and choir combined.
Meet up?
Find the mics out in the room, and follow the cables; there I'll be.

https://temeculavalleysymphony.org/symphony-concerts/

Unless the audio gods smite me, I'll be posting the results to the thread in the following week.

Alrighty,... after this whole CV-19 debacle, a new season is scheduled.

In response to an email query that I sent to the lady in charge,...

Greetings, Alana,

It seems that life might be returning to normal? I'm really glad to see a concert announcement,... after all these years.
Might I be allowed to attend and record the event?

I look forward to hearing from you.
peace love wellness

Mike French

Hi Mike - Yes, you may record the concert on Saturday, but please note; We just changed the location. It's no longer at the private home.
We have moved the concert location for the performance scheduled for this Saturday, Sept. 25th. The CONCERT will now be held at Grace Presbyterian Church located at 31143 Nicolas Rd, Temecula, CA 92591 and will still begin at 3:00 p.m. The address is clearly listed on Google. Take Winchester Rd. to Nicolas Rd. and turn East.
The entrance to the church parking lot is just after you pass Calvary Baptist. It's a bit difficult to see because of the trees but the driveway/entrance is just before you reach the street Calle Medusa.

We are pleased to say that the church allows for better parking and much more seating space which allows for better social distancing. We still plan to offer light refreshments during intermission but since this is a church we are not allowed to offer wine. Sparkling and plain water will be available.

My rigs; as usual low profile, and out of sight lines. There are six mics on my rig, for three stereo recordings (and the resulting 4 mic mix).

Binaural head under lace - PZM stereo pair on his storage box - CM3 pair as XY90º coincident stereo above head.

The big boom mics are not mine (video guy causing his own forest shadows).

The skinny mic stand stick coming up behind Gudes head is the XY90º-coincidental stereo rig.

Ambient Stereo Recordings by Mike French

TFH — A Journey to the Impact Zone

> Line Audio CM3 pair as XY-90º coincident stereo -> Tascam DR70D 2448 input 3/4

> Sennheiser MKE2 pair as PZM stereo on Gudes box -> DPA MMA6000 preamp -> Tascam DR70D input 1/2

> Sennheiser MKE2002 Artificial Head stereo on Gudes box -> Edirol R90HR 2448

From stage edge, center, low elevation

Due to a very echoey and vague sounding PA system for the preambles and announcements, and, because the wireless mic caused a very sharp EMF static spiking on all of my recordings, when turned on and off, there was an edit done to create a musical content only version of the recording; IOW, all spoken word, and stage resetting noises were removed for the final file set. The mics were not in any useable location for the PA sound, and mostly created a lot of vague or dead air spaces; some spoken preamble/announcements were up to 15 minutes long (set-2 begin). Lots of clonking and bonking during the stage resets were removed as well.

Thats why.

And, with the Thats Why,... I'm only posting the musical content only edit, the M.O.Edit

Very cool! I've been watching for a while and hoping for some more of these excellent recordings. Thank you very much for going to the trouble of making them available Mike!

I'm gonna post here just so I don't miss out on this precious content.

mfrench is living my fantasy. For me, the essence of the enjoyment derived from listening to recorded music is that the event thankfully was archived. Someone had to have invested time and juggled the compromises for us to experience an aural document. Moments captured in time.

We replay consumers don't have the event but we swoon over the aural document. When done well, that aural document is a gift to humanity.
