Testing amp board without outputs

I have a 1200 with a badly burned board. I am putting it back together but I would like to be able to test it as incrementally as possible so I wanted to connect the power source but have the outputs disconnected until I can make sure it is safe to do so.

Is this something usually done and if so, any concerns in particular?

I do it often with many other amps. Just have not done with a 1200. Pretty sure should be OK keeping everything at idle. A DBT is always good insurance to limit over current if there is a problem.

Thank you, I assume it is just a matter of leaving the outputs out making sure none of their leads touch anything. Great point on the DBT, will do that for sure!
 
Your voltages will measure slightly lower on DBT depending on what wattage bulb you use due to reduced current flow. Just be aware of that.
