What a talent. Indisputably one of the greatest voices in R&B history. After his “divorce” from the Tempts, he had some early solo success, but then his career stalled. However, he put out a lot of great music during this period. I spin David a lot; his voice resonates with me like few others. I guess I associate with his drug issues too, because I struggled with chemical dependency myself. It’s just too bad he never sought help. Who knows how much more great music we would’ve gotten from him. Many thanks for posting this.

Sorry to hear of your uncle, Speaker. I lost two friends to heroin ODs. Drugs are really insidious and can so easily ruin lives, not only the lives of the addicts but of those around them as well. I was almost a statistic.

As for David, I have that limited-edition release of David, but it did sell out quickly. You might be able to find it on eBay if you're really interested. Hip-O Select has come out with another David Ruffin title, this one an album he made with his brother Jimmy. It's another limited run. Here's the link:
