Thanks! I see it costs about 40% more than the Antek... although the blue paint is pretty darn cool. :thmbsp:

Other than the color, is there any other advantage over the Antek?
 
For me personally I see no real advantage using 1 power tranny over another, except $.
(unless of'course you want to try different rectifiers)

(I took some liberties with your BOM post) :)
(used my mod status to hopefully "help out")

With a pretty standard 120v wall voltage you should be able to follow the build just right.

For the time being it would have to be a no, I have got a couple preamp projects in
the works an a few more amps before I go to the phono, on the way way way back
burner is the phono stage, but not sure on topology or the tubes being used as yet.
(phono stage I have been running is an EAR 834P I'd modded some time ago)..:music:

When you're ready, I'll be building one. You did fine work on this Compactron design. I am hoping rebuild this amp with a pre in the same enclosure. It can wait. I'll use the pre on my Luxman L-110 until I build a tube pre. (I just got a TT again)
 
No...I haven't heard a 6DJ8 Pre yet. I have read all that I can find on that Tube, and it seems like a better choice than a 12AX7. I'll hopefully let you Know how it does Sound in a couple of weeks...

The box was made as a temporary housing and the panels were cut with that fine precision device known as a sawsall. :D

When this gets moved into a nice enclosure, I will have a better grounding situation.
 
I am seriously tempted to build my crossover amp with a terminal strip like that for ease of modification. I realize that connections loosening over time could be a problem but at least all one needs to "reflow" the joint is a screw driver. ;)

Looks like you intended to put a pilot lamp there... back-ordered... that's the story I'd use! :D

'Temporary' solutions usually end up becoming 'final' results around here... will it sound any different in an exotic wood cabinet? :scratch2: Might be a nice accompaniment for some speakers made with that industrial-strength 3/4" corrugated cardboard. :D

BTW I think I have a towel just like that one! :yes:

I don't know how many amps are built, I have built one standard an the paralell version,
I know Squidward has one and has those parts to build a second one where he plans on
doing the detailed build layout, I know of two others over on DIYAUDIO who built one to.

If I had to guess there are at least 7-10 of them I have been told about, maybe others:dunno:
 
I don't think the TubeLab Guy on DIY counts...He makes the Simple SE...From what I can tell, there's Kegger, Squidward, Goya and Me....AnyOne Else out there with a 6lu8 Amp??
 
I am not talking about Tubelab and his SE board or his 6LU8 type amp though Sled.

I helped 2 guy's thru building this amp, there people from DIYAUDIO that built This amp. :)
