The Allman Brothers Band...

FWIW, what the OP scored isn't the "Live at the Fillmore" LP, but a reworked version on Chronicles/Polydor, and generally thought to be a lesser recording that the classic version here most have mistaken it for. I have it as well as a pink Capricorn pressing and the SACD of the "real" "Live at the Fillmore"

And to complicate matters, there's also a "Deluxe Version" out on CD too...

Fillmore Concerts Link

One of my audio ephipany moments was at an AKFest back in the original hotel in the CAR room. Wardsweb had them playing "Stormy Monday" from his new 200 gm LATF LP on the big Hartsfield repros with the tube amps at a reasonable volume (they had been blowing the doors off all Fest prior to that).

It was beautiful

Oh yeah, Keg and I saw Dickey Betts Band a couple years back at a free riverside concert and it wasn't so good.

Since the day I bought the pink label LP, one of my first five records, it has always been the first record/tape/cd to start out the "A" part of my collection. I can't imagine how much greater they would have become had Duane not been lost to an accident at such an early age.

Some forty years later and still the best slide guitar work and one of the best live albums.

He would have agreed.

Dunno, Ken. I appropriated it from one of the "old guys who like old American guitars" forums I frequent. While we're on the topic, in addition to his Lesters, Duane also loved him some SG models.

Well I have "The Back To Black" 180g Mercury 823 273-1 which looks like yet another version. Elusive shows 3 different versions in 180g and this one is now listed as Universal.

I was at The Fillmore East when the Allman Brothers Recorded Live at The Fillmore. I was sitting in the 5th row of the orchestra for the Saturday night late show. They were incredible. It is one of my great moments in life.

Of course we know that Duane Allman was ranked #2 in Rolling Stones Greatest Guitarists of all time. He is just after Jimi Hendrix who is ranked #1.

Any additional Fillmore East and/or other legendary Manhattan concert venue moments to share? If you happened to have caught one or more of the Humble Pie appearances @ The Fillmore in '71, well, let us just say my awe would be infinite.

One of my favorite bands, must have seen them a dozen times or so, but never with Duane.

Wanted to see them this summer, but Gregg's illness canceled the tour. I sure hope the decide to go out next year.

That is the most disgusting - disturbing avatar I've seen:thumbsdn:
Good Lord,

Wow!

I have to settle for the SACD version which is mighty fine!

Well the power of suggestion is alive and well. I listened to the Allman Brothers Fillmore East and followed it with up with Layla tonight after dinner. That and a bottle of red and now I'm ready for bed. Great suggestion, thanks.

Love this place.

Now playing live at Fillmore East (as a result of this post) on vinyl. I hooked up my JBL L100 just for the occasion. they have not been in rotation for quite some time (now being exercised at full volume, thank you). My brother was at this same concert as well.

The Allman Brothers:

Bill Graham mentions, in his book 'Presents', that when he first heard the Allman Brothers he was sitting in his office at the Filmore. They sounded so great, and so origional, that he had to go to the auditorium and check em out!

'Presents' is a great book if you haven't read it! A lot of inside scoops on what was happening behind the scenes during the Filmore days. I really like how Santana introduced himself to Graham, pretty cool! Those were the good ole days. Seen Mr. Graham once in the Filmore West. One guy was getting a bit wild, well really out of control wild, and Graham personally came and took care of it. After the 'physical event' was over he escorted him downstairs and put him in a taxi and sent him home! Cool. No problems. Come back another day, just not today! The Filmore was a great place.

The MFSL CD "Live at the Fillmore" sounds really good. The Allman Brothers were great.

I've been trying to figure out what this post means. Does one have to be a Maryland resident to get it?

DC is renowned for uptight people. Maybe Similost will chime in with a rant on the subject.:D Also, I'll bet it'll have nowhere near the vibe of the original(s) now that the Fillmore is a Live Nation brand.

Saw them May 2009 with the Dead at the Gorge up close. 15th row. Gregg is looking pretty good, just sitting back there smiling.

I've seen them several times. The "new" Allman Bros are awesome.
