The Beginning Show and Auction @ South Lake Tahoe, for Hot August Nights

Big Tuna

Too Much Power!
Me and my friend Joe took his 1957 Vette Fuelie to Southshore, for the opening show and auction with Hot August Nights two Sundays ago. I had not driven the old black since I was 14 in 1986. Saw lots of neat cars, rods and stuff. Here is a short video I took of Joe putting the 57 back in garage after we got home:

Here is a 1971 Cuda Hemi I took a pic of at the show too. I tried to take pics of other cars, but I kept getting error mesages on my camera :(

I didn't go up to Tahoe, but I was there for the Reno & Sparks events (last Thursday-Saturday). I was surprised at how tame the crowd was, as compared to the previous years. At the auction in the Convention Center on Friday afternoon, no problem finding a seat on the bleachers. Before, I've had to go all the way to the top row, and sit next to a smelly guy.

Maybe next year I'll try to make it to the Tahoe part.

I was on I-5 Sunday and saw quite a few heading home. Sad how many trailer queens there are compared to drivers. Not what you built, but what you bought. I'd be curious to know how many dollars of Summit parts were in Reno this weekend.

Thanks Chill, and Skippy. Joe's Vette is hardly a driver, lol! He hasn't put 5000 miles on it in 30 years. It is showing it's age, nevertheless, typical of fiberglass from that era. He has plans to maybe repaint it someday, but as of now, it's still wears it's original lacqer it was born with in 1957.

Looks good from here. :thmbsp:

It's got one lifter that needs a little adjusting, lol.

Ya know, it's funny. I said the same thing to Joe when we were driving it, lol! I noticed that too. He scoffed at me, and said, nahhhh, I don't drive it enough to worry about it. He did put a new clutch in it last year, one of those dual plate centerforce ones. Nice and sturdy. The T-10 shifts real nice, that I do know :D

Hey Charles I take offence to that, I remember sitting next to you, I almost fell out of the bleachers, bought a nice car though.
