The Beta Users thread!

transfers..

I know I'm not paranoid, but when I posted on this thread, the thread stopped... :saywhat:

The tape I want to transfer is from my Navy days and has recordings from the ships flight deck camera and other ships news broadcast. The ship is the USS Coral Sea (CV-43).

Also, does anyone know how to transfer an 8mm movie film to tape?

One of the reasons that Betamax offers a better image than VHS is that at Betamax haves a horizontal defenition of 260 lines, and VHS 240 lines. S-VHS haves 270 lines.

My brother served on the Coral Sea when the US bombed Khadaffy in '86. And, I just got my Sanyo Super Beta Hi-Fi back from the repair shop, good as new. I'd be glad to do it for you, if I can keep a copy for my brother :)

Never bothered to wonder over here to this forum. I also love the Beta format as well, obviously from my name. Just mainly because that's the format I grew up with until the mid-90s.

All my machines are all low end units however. I own an SL-100, an SL-330, SL-5000, and 3 low end top loading Sanyos. I own 3 Betamovie cameras, one Sony BMC-110 and two clones of it: A Sanyo and a Toshiba.

I have around 100 tapes, and 80% of them are recordings on Beta III off of HBO back in the 80s.

I have about 10 tapes of early 80s commercials and cartoons that are my favorites right now.

Picked up a Sanyo 7250 today for $5. I sorta fell off the wagon as I said no more stuff may be I said "audio" stuff--so this doesn't count. It's in excellent shape and running fine but I haven't hooked it up to a tv yet. No remote though. I may even have a beta movie around.

Give it up, Hakka - there's never a "no more" in this hobby. Case in point:

Sony SL-2401 complete with manual and remote (which, in turn is complete with wrist strap). $10, and it works nice 'n' smooth. It'll replace that top-loading Sanyo I got over the summer that I don't have the guts to try and fix.

I'm curios, a Betmax sieled videocasette manufactured 20 years ago can be use in good condition (good conditions = to do not affect the drums (heads), to provide good image and good sound)?
P.S. Finally, I had repaired my Betty and I think tommorow I gonna pick it up and bring it home. Just wonder how god it works an "Sony" SL7 manufactured some 24-25 yrs. aglo  :jawdrop: :yikes:

Yes, ARguy is a BETA guy too! Have kept the tapes and machines in storage for many years...now I might have to drag them out and take a look see on what I have on tape. Those were the days!!!

Beta is not dead! And I'm not nuts for owning one or two or a few!! I am in the process of going through my Beta machines collection and will end up keeping only a few. Here is what I have/had:

SL-2000, TT-2000 Videola version. This one says Videola on the front instead of Swing Search.
Another SL-2000, TT-2000, HVC-2400, and battery charger
SL-HF400 x4. Three work, the fourth is a parts machine that has come in very handy.
SL-100 x2.
SL-HF600 in good working condition.
SL-HF900 also in working condition.

I've had to re-align the cassette loading tray on a few of 'em and some needed lubrication to get the tape to load around the head. I've also changed a flat motor. All mechanical stuff. I'll end up keeping the 600 and 900 when I'm done. Both have preferred random access tuners.

Newbie question

I'm hoping someone in this knowledgeable group can give me some advice. I was just given a Sony Betamax SL-2401. When I plug it in there is power. However once I put the tape in, the power light goes off and I cannot get the tape to play, FF, eject, or anything else. I know there is still power to the machine because the clock is on. Any suggestions on fixing this or any sites I can check out to find a solution? I'd really love to get it working. I have old tapes sitting around that I'd really like to see what's on them. Thanks so much.

I got a Betacam BMC-110 today. I need a source for the 2 flat belts, and the 2 small square belts used in this machine. I cleaned the original belts, and got the bad boy to work very well.

I doubt that this baby has been used in many years. All of the belts were stuck in their grooves, and stuck to the motor shaft.

I've never seen a camcorder that had no rewind/play functions, no electric viewfinder, and no video/audio output connections! How cheap!

The cam pic is sharp and clear viewing it on my Betamax SL-900.

Also have an unopened box of Kodak beta tapes--L-750's

This is my FIRST and only camcorder. I sure waited long enough. Got it for $15.

Can anybody help here? If nothing happens in a week or so, I will start another topic for it. Thanks a zillion!

I dig my beta too!
Still 2nd at least of my passions.
I got a nice old Sony PVM monitor for supa clear viewing.
Not a large collection. All Sony, for now
SL-10
SL-700
SL-HF360
BE-V50
Got into it for 2 movies, EVIL DEAD & I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE.
My only 2 movies, got 200+ hours of early 80's wrestling!
Neat items, 3 of the original Betamax Promo Buttons.
Power to the BETA!

i have a 1984 SONY SL-2300 EZ-Beta with STAR TREK 5 and a few SONY blanks. i'm looking to replace it with a SL-HF750. barring that, an SL-HF900 or PIONEER VX-90 will do...

I bought a Beta SL-HF550 for $5. Nice unit. I don't have any Beta tapes for it, though. None. Zip. Nada. The build quality is unbelievable, according to the manual it is 20.1 pounds. No clue if it works, since I obviously don't have any tapes. The power supply cap looks like it is going to explode, though. I should probably fix that. I told my parents I bought it for the clock, and they promptly got kind of angry. :nono::nono:

Somehow I have resisted the urge to turn to the dark side (:scratch2: or maybe that should be the bright side?) of BetaMax... although I have to admit that I've been very sorely tempted by the occasional BIG top-loading executive-looking Beta player I've seen (let's not mention the professional studio gear coming out of every crack in recent years, since the studios switched to digital...)

With the way my LaserDisc collection grows, if I added ANOTHER space-consuming format like that, I'd be dead. Wouldn't be enough breathing space left for my lungs, and if somehow there were, I think my wife would kill me. :D

I have one Beta movie but no beta player :(
It isn't available on DVD
Reckless starring Aidan Quinn and Darryl Hannah.

It is only available on betamax, vhs, and laserdisc.
I have the movie on all 3 formats. :)

I almost bought a 16mm reel of this movie but it was above my price at the time.

Sony betamax model SL-HFR90 what does R stand for?

Looking for specs & belt kit on this model, has very slow load & eject.
Thanks. Robert
