The Conversation with Gene Hackman

Just saw it. Very compelling, especially for "listeners" like most of us are. Gene Hackman has a nice hifi set-up, including Klipsch speakers, maybe Heresies, I think. Does anyone know what the amp and the turntable are? Unfortunately, he uses the amp to smash a statue of the Virgin Mary, towards the end. Oh no!

I had to go look it up. Released in 1974. I don't know what you're talking about, since I have not seen the movie, but I wanted to supply a little context to others who might be reading your post and scratching their heads going "What?"

Gene Hackman played a guy who planted listening devices on behalf of customers and monitored their conversations. In the end, he gets involved with a couple he was hired to 'bug' because he fears they'll be murdered based on the tapes he provides.

He reprises the role in Enemy of the State with Will Smith. Yeah it gets murky because the character's real name can never be pinned down because of his ability to stay ahead of law enforcement but it's the same guy from The Conversation. Enemy of the State is an excellent movie, the ending will blow your mind.

It's a good movie - well worth watching. Finding out what the hi fi stuff was is beyond my Googling abilities, so please watch it and let me know!

Been a while since I seen that movie. I'm have to go rent it someday. But Gene Hackman is one of my favorite actors of all time.

Get "The Package" with Hackman too. A very underated movie in his canon of work. I think Hackman has done more movies than anyone in the business.

Samuel L. Jackson has 148 to Hackman's 100 titles on IMDb for just the numbers. Amongnst many, many good ones, Popeye Doyle and Little Bill are Hackman's real standout roles for me.

and my dad saw Genes ass in the70`s:lmao:... He was a doctor in Seattle and was called in when Hackman got a small flu.. and thus got a shot in the rear!
