After a few years of tweaking, collecting, restoring and refurbishing. I have my system to where it's probably gonna stay for a while.
I mostly listen to vinyl, and my current deck is a Kenwood KD-770D with a Signet TK5ea cart equipped with a VMN40ML stylus.
My phono preamp is a silver-faced Advent 300 that I've fully restored. Full recap, tuner alignment, I even replaced the driver and output transistors even though I don't use the power amp in it- just wanted it working 100% in case I ever need to resign it to a garage receiver instead of just a phono pre.
My main system preamp is an Aragon Stage One. I've replaced the opamps in each preamp board with AD OP275s instead of the stock OPA2134s -I know most folks would consider this a downgrade, but the OP275s feel more natural and less "airy" to my ears and have a much lower noise floor than the OPA2134.
For amplifiers, I just recently restored three Kenwood L-07Mii amps that power my left, right and center channels. For surrounds I have a very inexpensive wireless class D.
For speakers, I have the Carver AL-IIIs hooked up to the L-07Miis with Ultralink Excelsior "firehose" cables. My center which is powered by the third L-07mii is also a ribbon, custom built to match the AL-IIIs. My dinky surround satellites are just a pair of Sony bookshelf speakers (This system is mainly for two-channel listening)
I also have a Polk PSW-505 sub to add a little more to the low end.
When I feel like spinning a CD instead of vinyl, I have a Denon DVD-3910 connected optically to the Aragon.
I also put together a little "12v relay in a box" to turn on the Kenwoods from their remote input from the Aragon's 12v trigger output.
I really love the pairing of the speakers and amps in this system. The Carvers shine with these Kenwoods that are at the lower range of the power they want to see.
