The Elvis Thread

Mastered by Vic Anesini. Any Elvis he touches is pure gold. Many of the older CDs have after-the-fact, digital reverb added. Not horrible, but certainly unnecessary.

Now listening to it. As you say the mastering is top notch.

Always like Elvis. #1 in entertaining but I didn't like the way some of his music was produced. Rca just fell into that Elvis sound they had going on. Great singing, great musicians and great arrangements but poor mixing for me. James Taylor once said too bad they glossed over his sound in studio and I agree on the same level. Fun music though. Long live the king baby and "hang loose"

Made famous by Elvis.

Picked up this German produced 9 CD boxset from Europe for less than 30 Aussie pesos.

Elvis version of a track is followed by the original version(s). Very interesting to see how he put his own spin on some tracks. Sometimes he belted out a better version, sometimes he didn't and sometimes it was just different. The original source material Blues versions are great.

Windows Media indexing is terrible, had to delete the rip and start over as it was piling them all into one folder.

All the King's Men- Scotty Moore & DJ Fontana + Assorted guests

When Keith Richards organizes a session with a couple of Elvis' sidemen, you'd better turn up.

I grew up with Elvis. With evergreen, rock n roll and jazz music. Elvis was my idol.
Have several tape collections with his songs. But only this one is certified:)

Includes his first self-financed recording "My Happiness" at Sun in '53 for his mother.

Elvis' Golden records

Rubbish 70's mono-stereo remastering. Fixed by playing through one channel and twiddling the bass & treble.

Various & Elvis - Made Famous By Elvis Presley (Disc 1- That's All Right)

Box set of 9 CDs. There's the Elvis track followed by the originals. Really puts some swagger in some so-so tunes.
