Scroll down for the photos of those indicted so far. Wow. Any four year old could tell you that these guys are all criminals just by looking at their mugshots. How could these thieves operated for so long and with such success? I guess that where big money exists, the criminal element is not that far behind.

Unbelievable corruption... all of 'em should be locked-up and the key thrown away especially Sepp Blatter!
 
Anybody stupid enough to see the FIFA financed movie called "United Passions"? Only 2 people attended the opening showing in L.A. It has received the lowest possible score from the aggregate ratings sites. This has happened only seven times in history.

There are clips and previews of this movie on YT. It is so bad, the clips are worth watching as a learning example of how not to make a movie.
 
La FIFA Nostra aka THIEFA in my book. A travesty and an insult to the sport. Time to indict the crooks, but especially Blatter and rid the world of "Blatter Cancer". I think it is time to radically overhaul FIFA or a new, transparent, open governing body in it's place. Scandal of epic proportions.
 
How exactly does the FBI have any jurisdiction here?

If the bribes occurred on US soil, I can see it, but why do they have jurisdiction to arrest a foreign national in a foreign country???

I'm not saying this stuff didn't happen, but wondering the legality of it, especially since bribery seems to be an accepted practice in many countries apart from ours.

Only difference from FIFA and here in the US is corruption is usually not looked at much by any particular administration or legislative body or regulatory agency..... unless it's of or in the opposing political party of course :)

Good question bribry has been the norm at FIFA since day one and is the norm overseas ,and *without entertaining political debate *here*also in one form or another at the US congress and regulatory revolving doors as well ......IOW the question should be asked.............. why the sudden outrage shake down for fines and or oversight or no ? :)

A good deal of FIFA bribe money got channeled through CONCACAF, the North America/South America football confederation, headquartered in Miami, Florida. Which is where the USA involvement in this scandal comes in. This has been reported by several sources on the FIFA scandal.

Thank you! That makes sense now, if the money physically moved through Miami

We live in interesting times here, with the Internet and ETF. Consider this scenario:

I buy an American flag online from let's say, Wal*Mart. My order comes from Warren, MI and goes to a server in say Texas and my money comes out of a Paypal bank in Delaware to a Wal*Mart payment center in Florida and the flag ships from California.

Where did the sale take place?? :dunno:

Laundered money through US banks. We have jurisdiction.

The guy who brought everyone down is a local soccer dad... Westchester NY.

He was busted and agreed to wear a wire to nail all these others for leniency.
 
And in High Fidelity to boot. And Jack Warner, a FIFA high official was also director of CONCACAF, so this further explains the connection. Jack Warner wore a wire, and got it on tape.

I'll give Blatter some credit for at least seeming to genuinely want to bring high-level soccer to fans around the world, rather than just western Europe, South America, and an occasional tip of the hat to the US and Canada. Unfortunately, it was all wrapped up in a giant ****-ball of corruption and general asshattery.
 
Wow, this isn't some deal where $10,000 is missing, it's 10s of millions of dollars and it looks like it's been going on for years or even decades. Even money that was intended to help earth quake victims in Haiti went into accounts controlled by Jack Warner.
