The funniest car joke I've heard in a long time - Mitch Hedberg

I rent a lot of cars 'cos I go on the road. When I drive a rental car, I don't know what's going on with it. A lot of times I drive for ten miles with the emergency brake on. That doesn't say a lot for me, but it really doesn't say a lot for the "emergency brake". It's really not an emergency brake, it's an emergency "make the car smell funny lever".

You could have an entire thread on Mitch. He had a weird way of seeing things. There are whole webpages and twitter feeds devoted to him. My favorite (may not be 100% verbatim):

"A friend said 'look at this, this is a picture of me when I was younger.' Every picture of you is a picture of you when you were younger. That would be a helluva camera."

My observation: Nothing goes over potholes, rough road, curbs, etc. like a rental car. You don't even feel them.

An engineer friend of mine used to claim that all rental cars were off-road vehicles. Once he rented a Chrysler K-car on a business trip to San Francisco and amused himself by seeing how quickly he could take that car down Lombard Street, the crookedest street in the world. He came home surprised at how well that little car handled the switchbacks, even though the tires squealed like crazy every time he threw the car into a turn.

My fave Mitch Hedberg line, which is darn tough to nail down -

"I had an ant farm. Them fellas didn't grow ****."

He was amazing. RIP.

Back in the day rental cars were good as they had there own beer cooler built in. Open trunk, throw in beer, fill with ice.

I am not joking. :thmbsp:

His cadence and timing was flawless. I saw many live sets from Mitch Hedberg.
He toured one year with a stand up bassist 'Chuck' from Houston.
My favorite punchline is after he explains he likes to play music loud, and then his neighbour pounds on the wall to complain and he replies " my wall does not have a doorknob, you'll have to go around!"
