The greatest amps circa 1977-80?

harman kardon citation 16a

Yes.... The Citation 16a:drool: I've had many amps, but Man! My Citation is at the top of this list!
I would be shocked if this amp couldn't drive any speaker out there, with ease.... and the sound! Nice..............

Agree...best 70s budget amp....almost like tube amp....so pure in tone. No bass killer. (never use tonecontrols that spoils most of the fun)

3 times mentioned on one page....it tells the story.:thmbsp:

(dont tell everyone...cause prices will go skyhigh:nono:)

My set up: Mark Levinson cd Linn LP12 Wega V-4810 (black version of the Sony TA-5650) with the wellknown english speakers.

Dont like the Mark Levinson that much.....was so stupid to sell my Spectral SDR-1000SL...great analogue sound.

Technics SU-8080 Integrated Amplifier

greatest amps? hmmm Seems like a real long show and tell thread but I'd say the best ones were the ones that were taken care of and you can still get parts for. (And especially not dropped!)

Anything Onkyo. Even the 'thinner profiles/ convection (TX82-84 etc.)' cooled ones are worth a rebuild as they are excellent pro mixer amps, if the display works and you can get the stk's, just add cooling fans (inside or top cooling) as these designs get hot quick.
