the 'Half Price Books' chain/possible Pirate Record Stock. NEED HELP

Hi, All. I recently ducked into a 'Half Price Books' near me in the Atlanta area, and discovered a LARGE amount of bogus reissue vinyl, mostly jazz and R&B, priced to sell at half of what a correct copy would be listed at in the same store. Example 'Kinda Blue' on Columbia was priced at $23, and the bogus copy on WaxTime was priced at $13... there's been a lot of discussion of these Eastern European bootlegs cut from digital sources here and on other Vinyl sites. The quality is low and disappointing. They look and feel exactly right, but play like crap, with cut fades etc. Indicators that the digital copies came from masters at the original labels, but would not fit on an album side in the digital lengths etc. The well known offenders include:
Doxy
ZYX
Vinyl Lovers
Simply Vinyl
Abraxas
Wax Time
Dolchess
Jazz time
PanAm
Blue moon
Jazz wax
DOL
I've written to Half Price Books to see if they know what they are selling, with tepid response. They are spinning it to me that this is an anomaly in this particular store. I don't agree, these records are brand new and were purchased from a wholesaler, probably at bulk.

If any of you AK'rs live in a town with a Half Price Books and want to help sort this out, please respond if you find any of these bogus titles/labels in stock. This is not a single copy of a Floyd concert from 73', this is systemic ripping off of legit labels who are helping bring back vinyl. And more painful is the awful quality of the pressings. How many people get duped because the packaging looks slick and stickers say 'audiophile' quality, you can only guess. I love vinyl and I can't abide the overt support of these bogus pressings. Thanks -Sean
