The Lyrics We Think We Heard

We have all gotten some lyrics wrong when we sang along with our favorite songs. Post your favorite wrong lyrics so we can all have a laugh.

In the spirit of Christmas, I will start with Brenda Lee's "Rockin' around the Christmas Tree"

I had someone tell me this is what she was really singing and now I can not unhear it.

Rockin' around the Christmas tree
Let the Christmas spirit ring
Later we'll have some f***kin pie
And we'll do some caroling

Elton John's "Bennie And The Jets, She's Got Electric BOOBS" is what I always thought the lyric was! Just this year when I bought the Yellow Brick Road album I see the inner lyric sheet and says "She's Got Electric BOOTS". :D

When Paul McCartney released "Band On The Run", two of my childhood friends thought it was "MAN On The Run". :D

Another one I had wrong for years was CCR's "Down on the corner". The line that should be--Willy goes into a dance and doubles on kazoo, to me was -- Willy goes into a trance, the Devil's on the loose.

Mine was from Metallica's "Master of Puppets".
"I will knock your pie / I will help you die" instead of "I will occupy".
For those Doo Wop lovers of a certain age:" Your best friend Rhoda told me you had tear drops in your eyes". NYC DJs (e.g. Cousin Brucie) repeated this line from "Daddy's Home". Actually: "Your best friend wrote and told me you had tear drops in your eyes".

Sisters Sledge, We are family. Once you here this, it will be with you forever.

all of the people around us they say
Can they be that close
Just let me state for the record

That last line sounds like, Just let me staple the vicar.

A friend thought Ozzy Osbourne, Crazy Train was Gravy Train.

For misheard lyrics, check out Peter Kaye's stand up routine on this. It's very, very funny!!

I have another one, from "Proud Mary" by CCR. "You don't have to worry, girl, you have no money / People on the river have happened to kill" ("You don't have to worry 'cos you have no money / People on the river are happy to give").
