"The Mechanic" movie stars a nice tube vinylphile system!

Did any of you see the nice vinyl system in the new movie "The Mechanic" It looks like a high end project table with an Ortofon 2M red and a Jolida tube amp. I didn't see a phono pre anywhere....

I just love seeing a "cool guy" action movie character who's an audiophile. :smoke:

Sometimes we are depicted as nerds compared to all the cool iPod MP3 generation.:nerd:

I noticed that Turntables and vintage systems continue to hold their own in movies, even in the ones that depict the current times.

Seems like the TT is the only device that is suitable to use in those romantic scenes when the guy has the girl over and wants to set the mood with music.

There is just no good way to show this with the actor pointing a remote at his iPhone dock, or even popping a CD in CD player.

Queing up the vinyl, picking up drink glasses and moesying over to the couch is still the preferred cinematographic moment. :banana:

I watched this last night. Pity the stereo equipment is the first to blow during the climax!
 
That movie is two years old, at least.
Have seen that scene but can't tell it's Pro-ject TT, more like something customized that just look like a real turntable (and amplifier). I really doubt that any sane director would burn such components :D

Anyone else notice that the Jolida's transformer cover is on backwards in the photo above but on properly in the close-ups shown in the other thread? Strange...
