Well the title basicly states what is happening.
This is what the EMIT R on the left side looks like:
Sorry for the bad image quality, i grabed my cell phone an took this...
So to me it looks like its blown, but here is were the mystery starts, i have tested the Kappa 8.1i this is in, by setting the amp to drive only one channel, and drove it with a 18KHz and a 19KHz Sine Wave, and i could clearly hear it being emitted for the left and right channel, only difference was the position of greatest amplitude, but thats probably due to the one speaker being next to a wall, and the other standing more twords the center of the room.
From the datasheet the EMIT R crosses over at 4.7KHz, so if the emit is blown should it not emit a sound when driven by the 18 and 19 KHz sine wave?
For good mesure i have included a image of the EMIT R tweeter:
And here is what the EMIT R in my Infinitesimal 4 looks like, in comparison:
Im not sure if both the Kappa EMIT R's are dead, or if they work, based on hearing id say they work, but based on visual inspection id say they are goners. Im quite confused at this point, so help would be great. My hypothesis is, that the Midranges are some how compensating the emit r, im not sure if that's possible though.
The speakers did have a bit of a layed back sound, compared to the Infinitesimals, but i choked that up to me using a different amp, cables, and capacitors (in the crossover) then the infinitesimal 4's.
The fact, that my Infinitesimals surrounds have decided to rip today, dose not improve my mood... But at least i want to get this over with now as well...
