The near future by Corning

Looks like they sold enough Pyrex to fund some serious R&D. I don't live too far from the Corning Museum of glass, and have never been there. I gotta shift that up the priority scale, cool stuff, thanks for sharing!

I've always been a fan of glass. I used to spend a lot of time digging through ancient trash dumps looking for cool old bottles. (And now I have boxes and boxes that I have no idea what to do with.) My wife and I used to stop by the Corning Museum of Glass to buy a Christmas ornament every year on our annual holiday trek to visit with her family and friends in western New York. We even toured the Museum one year - it was pretty cool.

Be that as it may: there are some major flaws in Corning's corporate fantasy - the biggest being our greasy fingers. I hate cleaning windows and rarely do. I'm resigned to regular wipe downs of the smooth and shiny surfaces in the kitchen and bathroom but that's about my limit. The reality of a future were we are surrounded by glossy touch screens would be a disgusting smudge-filled nightmare. They need to go back and re-imagine the future with actual human beings factored in.

Yeah, all I really need is about a 48" display panel, & it doesn't necessarily have to be interactive. Unless you figure in mind-reading abilities, where I don't even need to type or talk or anything. :scratch2: ;)
