So I picked up a nice Technics 1400mk2 a while back with no real issues other than the cuing not functioning. Got it at the record store for an okay price figuring if I couldn’t fix it, I could at least get my money back if I flipped it for parts/repair. After getting into the guts this afternoon, I have fixed the cuing issue by putting a wire around the problematic plastic cam, which had indeed snapped. Someone on VE had used a zip tie to bind the cam around the knurled shaft, so I did something much like that. My issue now is that the cuing works well, but it will not lift on auto return. Additionally, the motor doesn’t start when I put the arm over the platter. So in short it works as a manual table with cuing, but my auto features are shot. Does anyone know why this might be? Is the mechanism separate, or might I have reassembled the thing wrong? Thanks for the help all. Photo of the turntable attached.
