The one item you would not do without?

tough call.. :scratch2:
i guess it would have to be my records ( mostly irreplaceable )...although i'd probably be pretty miserable if i ever had to part with my turntables or amp
ariston rd 60 & rega p3

Almost hate to say it, but even though I love my Yammi CA, I'd have to give the nod to holding onto my KEFs. Not vintage, really, but 1.) I just love how they sound, and 2.) they're nowhere to be found on ePay or Audiogon at any price.

Now see White and Goldear I try to teach and yet you miss the whole point. while I don't want to belittle this fun thread it's not a place where any great info for the masses is going to show up.

BUT by carefully using it to my own devises I can have the wife read it and when she gets to my little two word post it will have a greater effect on my Audio pleasure then a whole bunch of Roses.

SEE the one thing I couldn't do without is the understanding of my extremely tolerant and fun to play with wife of 23 years.

Lesson over.

And, if your wife of 23 years is anything like mine of 25, they both definately fit into the "audio" category! :thmbsp: :D :D

Hemm, good question. Right now, I regularly listen to two systems, my main one and the one in my bedroom. The main one has the 1250 at the heart of the setup and my bedroom has a 780 at the heart of the system. Both have turntables and both are just a joy to listen too.
But...if I did take a leap and got rid of everything (which I am actually thinking of doing because I want to try out tube amps) I think I would still hang onto the 1250 and my PL-530 turntable. Yes, yes, I know, I can only hold back one item, but what is the point of having a great reciever if I can't play anything through it.
That, and the 1250 was the first vintage purchas I made, which was lucky because I really didn't know much about vintage gear when I got it, just worked out really well.
Cheers.

The answer should always be the speakers or you haven't found the ones you really like yet, keep my Magnat All Rib 10's no contest

I'll have to chime in with speakers also. Too hard to replace, and just too damn good at everything. There are many electronics out there that would drive them properly, so that part is a non-issue.

My sound dynamics RT3 speakers. It sounds good with any audio unit I have: Sansui au919, 8080, 7070; sony 6800, 5800, 4800, pioneer 780, JVC jr 400smk11, eico 2536, radiocraftsmen 500, marantz 2238. No listener fatigue with this speaker.
