We went to see The Pink Floyd Experience last night at the Strathmore Hall in Rockville, MD. Strathmore is a new music hall with exceptional acoustics. *
It was a lot of fun. I've never been to a Pink Floyd concert. The muscial instruments sounded comparable to Pink Floyd quality. The guitar player, Tom Quinn :guitar:, hammers it out like all good guitarist should. These guys really, truely enjoy playing Pink Floyd tunes. The bassman, Gus Beaudoin
, had a grin on his face all night.
I was pretty much on the edge of my seat the whole time. I've been to many concerts at Strathmore Hall, mostly classical and jazz. Usually, I just lay back and relax
. But last night, The Pink Floyd Experience had my full attention. The video and light show was fun and entertaining. And then, in the end, they release a "flying pig" into the audiance- way too much fun! :grnbounce
The vocals were a bit lacking. I could not comprehend most of the words they were singing. Maybe from bad mic levels or poor speaker placement. We were only four rows back. All the speakers were about 20 meters to either side of us.
I got my new Sennheiser HD 650 headphone today, so I decide to run through some Pink Floyd with The Pink Floyd Experience still fresh in my mind. Yes, I prefer Redbook CD Pink Floyd over The Pink Floyd Experience live. But I might go see them again, just for fun. :yippy:
* Here's a quote from the Strathmore Hall website.
"Architects William Rawn Associates Architects, Inc., acousticians Kirkegaard Associates, theater designers Theatre Project Consultants—the same team that designed Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood for the Boston Symphony Orchestra—and associate architects Grimm & Parker of Calverton, MD, join together to create a 1,976-seat concert space that is warm, embracing, and acoustically superb."
