The Prisoner remake??

Watching AMC this morning I saw again a promo for "The Prisoner" with Ian McKellen. Saw a sign for "The Village and a big bubble, so there's no doubt in my mind what it is.

Now since it was basically the iconic series of the 60s, the topic of much conversation decades later and guided in no small part by the hand of Patrick McGoohan, who recently passed I believe, I'm a bit leery of what it may prove to be.

It could be good, but my hopes aren't high...

It's finally on huh. I remember reading about it 3 or 4 years ago. I'm with you in wondering how it'll stack up against the original. We'll watch it here just the same. Thanks for the heads up.

High production values, top name stars, lots of financing.......what could go wrong?

I have high hopes for it as I like both McKellen an Caviezel and hope it turns out as good as the promo seems to indicate.

I am a huge prisoner fan...hope it's good. It looks like Caviezel has this kind of american-innocent-generic-good guy thing going on...can't say that it seems as cool as McGoohan's character, who was always cleverererer than the average gent.

Then again, who could be as good as McGoohan? Is there anyone?

Ben Kinglsey could have pulled it off. Terrence Stamp, for sure. Maybe they are a bit old?

Who comes up under them? Jude Law? Nay. Eccleston? Maybe...

Just throwin them out there, folks.

Eccleston could have done it, though everyone would be wondering why Doctor Who let himself be imprisoned so easily.

I'll be watching this, hoping it's good. McGoohan's original is, IMHO, the best piece of television art ever made.

The Prisoner

How the hell can this be an "AMC original" when it's a copy of a series???
Fuggin' marketing weasels...

I believe the designation of "AMC Original" is meant to indicate that AMC has bankrolled the production of the show and that it (the remade series) has been seen no where else before.

So, will they finally reveal that Number Six is John Drake? I'd watch the new one just for that.

interesting concept; the prisoner as the Doctor, just as McGoohan's prisoner was ostensibly Drake.

the trailer is awesome! best thing, AMC is re-running the old epis so's I can copy them. I'd forgotten how cool they were.

...be seeing ya!..

The first show I ever bought on DVD. At the original release prices, it was far from cheap, but worth every penny.

Oh, so it's an "AMC Original" copy

Is that like Genuine Imitation Vanilla??? :D

I see Hammer to Anvil is going to be rerun Fri 11/6. I always though that was one of the best episodes. It's followed by The Girl who was Death which was originally supposed to be part of the Secret Agent/Danger Man series and included the "Potter" character who was used in both series and an acor named John Drake.

There were so many cool little 'Easter Eggs" in the orginal. I'll check out the new one and watch with high hopes, but I don't know how they will keep up.

No. Cynical, smart, and a bastard. He played the role as the anti-hero non-conformist and that is what made the original show interesting.

I hope the remake is good as I do like the cast but I just cannot see JC playing it like McGoohan.
