What is the fair? It's these things and more....

It's families, like this loving mother and her happy baby....

It's held in Salem for 10 days ending on Labor Day.

There are state and county/provincial fairs all over the USA and Canada and even some in Europe. It would be great if others could post some of their fair pictures here.

Yes, I am a fair fanatic.

I've lived in Salem for 7 years now, and still haven't gone to the fair.

You're missing a good time! It doesn't cost any more than a movie night unless you have kids to indulge. There are zillions of things to see and do. I went four times this year and enjoyed every second, even though it was 90 degrees in the shade.

AK state fair.

Good pix of the fair!

That looks like the giant cabbages they used to feature in Miracle-Gro magazine advertising. You know the ones where they talk about Mrs. X from Fairbanks who grew a 66 pound cabbage. Tell me, are they still edible when they grow to those enormous sizes?

i dont know if they are edible at that stage. Not sure if i would like to give it a try though. Plants tend to harden as they get bigger...

There is a pumpkin pic, where the pumpkin is over 1100 or 1200 pounds. Just under the record. But it was disqualified because of a hole near the bottom.
