The Ten Commandments of Audiophilia

I posted the lyrics to this on #66 here but found this. It's from the "National Lampoon Radio Dinner" record from the early 70's. A friend suggested I post this here.

@onwardjames

I meant no ill will and sorry that I brought you up I just wanted to comment on that in general not you personally.

Oh, I know you didn't, but I am actually glad you brought that up, as I'm very guilty of not looking at previous topics discussed.

I do try to make any thread I start something fun, maybe enlightening, and ground not previously covered.

Here's another of my suggestions -

I am the Lord of Wattage. If my first watt sucketh, what needs do ye have of 200 more?

Thou Shalt Level speakers with Quality Bubble Level!!!

With apologies to Ms. Big:

I, the Lord thy Quad, am a jealous Quad, and thou shalt have no other Quads before me.

Love thy preamp as thyself.

Thou shalt covet, like crazy.

It struck me as funny that the Google-constructed first entry when searching for "ten commandments" lists eight of them, and then presents a "more items" button, which takes you to the Wikipedia entry.

Yeah, I'm weird. ;)

1. Thou shalt love thine first ten watts best.
2. Thou shalt not maketh a beast of burden thine amp, lest that amp perish.
3. When no sound maketh thine amp, thou shalt check the position of the tape monitor switch first.
4. Thou shalt let thine own two ears lead thee to the Elysian Fields, no matter what thou readest in the review section of Amazon.
5. Useth not the lamp cord for speaker wire; it is a graven image.
6. Rest not thy flagon on thine amp.
7. When thou hast beheld the sacred marriage of a pure & chaste amp to a set of immaculate speakers, thou shalt not covet other equipment.
8. When thou playest AC/DC, thou shalt bang thy head.
9. Listen not to thine equipment but to thine music.
10. Thou shalt not drive up prices of Sherwood on Ebay with lofty claims.
