The trouble with B&W / Crossover removal on DM2??

Ohighway

Wannabe Minimalist
Anyone ever try and remove the crossover out of their B&W DM2 Series II?

Is there ANY way to get that sucker out without breaking off the bass reflex tube ? I tried removing my crossover and it just ain't happening.... Probably no huge loss if I have to remove/replace the bass reflex tube.... but it probably won't come off in one piece.:tears:

Let me know if I'm missing some obvious removal "trick".

I'll try, it's a little tight inside that cabinet to say the least. Cannot figure out how they got the crossover in there (pretty large unit on a circuit board) -UNLESS- they glued in the bass reflex port tube -after- the crossover was installed.

Stout and heavy cabinets, with shelf braces, and midrange driver blocked off from the rest of the drivers. They're constructed well, hope they sound good.

I just took a look at the DM2 MK-II´s manual here:

I´d try and get to the crossover by removing the woofer.

.... oh that woofer is out all right.... and the crossover is in the very bottom of the cabinet.... I removed all four screws holding it down, and I can grab it and move it. The problem is that no matter which way I twist or turn, there's not enough room to clear it past the bass reflex tube. The shelf brace inside certainly doesn't help in this respect either. the only way I can see out of this mess is to remove that tube.... which will likely destroy it in the process.:tears:
Once that's gone I can get the crossover out of there.
