Audio Karma’s good friend, Patrice (clinic-audio) is always on hand here to help out with owner’s questions about their McIntosh units. He is spot-on with his help and suggestions.
But, there is more to Patrice than we know! He is also the ultimate restorer of vintage McIntosh.
Today he sent me some photos of a C11 that he has just finished restoring for a customer. He had used my reproduction end caps to finish off the fine work that he has done:
It looks very nice, right? Maybe a closet queen that never had any abuse? Well, no. In fact it was in poor condition when he received it. Patrice has recreated the front panel – both the silk-screened glass as well as a newly manufactured lower gold-anodized aluminum panel. Both are 100% faithful to the original! The lettering used on these units was not a “font”, but a particular style, and Patrice nailed it.
Looking just like it came out of the factory in 1961:
And it holds up extremely well to close scrutiny:

But wait…..there’s more! This is no mere cosmetic restoration, but a complete (unbelievable) rebuilding including a newly made chassis:
Here is the beautiful interior:
And even a new power transformer with double winding for international use:
If there was an award for patience, attention to detail, and quality workmanship, it would certainly go to Patrice!
