I'm inclined to go easy on this seller. The guy [Or girl? What kind of a name is "Glynn" - it sounds to me like a faerie in an adventure novel, or an archaic or femaile spelling for "Glenn"] admits that he didn't know the value, and was HOPING to get $750. I don't think the seller had a clue as to real market value, so just set a price that seemed good to him/her. That may not be greed, just ignorance and a dash of optimism.
We've all seen ridiculous prices on old/used things before. I used to collect rare books, and once word started getting out that "old books cost money" (although only a relatively few did back then) antique and junk-shop dealers started charging funny money for what collectors would have deemed rubbish. Either one has the specialist knowledge to price things properly, or one doesn't. Not all sellers on eBag (deliberate mis-spelllng) are experts on old audio gear (although a search of past sales would be in intelligent step before listing).
Another reason to put a high buy-it-now price is simple marketing strategy. If people see it marked that high, they may be influenced in their bidding to go higher than if it had a low BIN price. Unless I was desperate to clear out (sell) an item quickly, I might be tempted to put a high-side BIN value, for that reason... although admittedly not as extreme as this guy (in apparent ignorance of real value) did. Who knows? One might always get lucky and find that one "rich sucker who just has to have it now". That isn't really greed, as the free market (willing sellers and buyers with freedom to bid/sell or not) will decide if it will sell at that price.
Now if this seller KNEW the real market value and LIED to some old lady on a small pension looking for a present for her grandson and said that it was "worth" that BIN price, then I'd say the b*st*rd should be boiled in ol and salted and fed to vultures as a con-man and thief. Doesn't seem to be the same case here, to me.
