They're not kidding....STINKY

goodolpg

Just an old fart trying to help.
Used my recently purchased spin clean record washer last Sunday.
Washed maybe 25 records. Put the lid on and put it in spare room.
The instructions say to use the mixed cleaning solution within a week.
Knowing that and with no more records needing cleaned immediately I decided I better dump out the solution and clean the unit.
OMG!
Man did that stuff stink. BAD

Well, I would expect that you had some kind of Bio stuff on your records. Then again closed anything will get funky after a while. SC fluid is cheep, I always rinse and clean everything after I am done with the records. Make sure you dry all of the parts well. I usually place my clean machine on a sunny window sill for a day. But you are on the right path... Clean records will reward you for years!

I know what you mean, especially when you clean your thrift store finds. 40-50 years of various gunk sure makes some really weird stuff. After cleaning some particularly bad records one time, i could of sworn i saw a sludgy face smiling at me from my SpinClean.

I used distilled water.
The records were mostly from garage sales but a couple I had bought new back in the day.
I bought the special 40th anniversary spin clean (brown) so the water "looked" ok after use but it was fairly brown when I poured it out yesterday.
